Announcement    Welcome to Silverthaw Jewelry!
I am a metalsmith based out of northern Colorado and make everything myself - every piece of jewelry you see here came from my own hands and tools. Traditional metalsmithing is a slow and labor intensive process that takes years to learn to do well. When you buy one of my pieces, you're supporting a small artist and not a big corporation.

Frequently asked questions

✨Jewelry Care✨

Be gentle with your jewelry, and it should last a lifetime. Don’t use harsh cleaners or especially hand sanitizer while wearing rings, as it could damage the stone - take that extra second to remove it before washing or sanitizing your hands. Don’t swim or bathe while wearing your jewelry. Some gemstones are fairly soft and may scratch or scuff if worn with rough handling. Clean with a damp cloth and a mild soap if necessary, or polish with a polishing cloth meant for silver.

✨A note about Sterling Silver and Oxidation/Tarnish✨

Sterling silver is a silver alloy containing a small amount of copper. Copper will oxidize with exposure, causing sterling silver to tarnish or blacken. In some cases a person’s body chemistry can also react with the silver, speeding up the natural tarnishing process. High sulphur content in local water or food can also react to silver. In some cases the silver has been chemically oxidized in order to give the texture and design depth and then purposefully polished to bring out the highlights. This oxidation will wear unique to the owner - it may darken over time in low points and polish off with exposure to skin and other jewelry.

✨Hand fabricated ✨

All jewelry is hand fabricated by me from sterling silver sheet and wire. I do my best to source my stones from ethical sources. My jewelry is created the slow way, with saws and hammers and pliers and soldered with fire. Metal smithing is an ancient craft that has been practiced for thousands of years.
